Just for the sake of ease, here are my reviews of all of this year's Lay's Do Us A Flavor Contest Finalists in one place.
Kettle Cooked Greektown Gyro Potato Chips
Wavy West Coast Truffle Fries Potato Chips
Southern Biscuits and Gravy Potato Chips
New York Reuben Potato Chips
Those are my thoughts, so what did you think, and which were your favorite? And if you haven't voted yet, you can do so here.
For me it was a CLEAR winner.
ReplyDeleteAs you and others have stated, the truffle ones were similar to a "sour cream and onion" type chip. Fairly bland (though I tasted garlic, parmesan and butter (I assume that what my tongue read as butter was the truffle)). I couldn't finish the little "big grab" sized bag of the gyro ones, which was the biggest disappointment for me. I'd actually requested something similar in the past. For me, it was the feta cheese flavor that destroyed them. I had exactly *ONE* Reuben chip and nearly gagged on it. I'm not a fan of the sandwich or really any of the ingredients except maybe the rye bread. Paul *DID* finish the bag, though (he does order Reuben's...but usually without the saurkraut).
However, I've since bought MULTIPLE full-sized bags of the Southern Gravy and Biscuit chips. I love the butteriness of them, the peppery sausage gravy flavor and they are "just right" to my palette. They certainly deliver what they promise and are DELICIOUS.
