The Big Belly Burger Commercial

We've talked about this fictional burger chain in the DC Universe before (here and here), and now it's moved from the comics to your television screens in the last few years. In the comics, a favorite of heroes like Superman in Metropolis, and on the small screen, beloved of the characters from "The Flash," "Arrow," "Legends of Tomorrow," and "Supergirl."

I've never been able to pinpoint exactly what kind of fries they've had until now - it's regular cuts and curly fries just in case you were wondering - when they have debuted their own commercial. Here it is, the Big Belly Burger commercial, enjoy!

Random Tater Pic of the Day #232

Here's another in our series of fictional fast food places we wish were real. From the Quentin Tarantino universe of film continuity, this is Big Kahuna Burger, most notably from Pulp Fiction and From Dusk till Dawn. Wow, I just love those golden fries...

Here's yet another fictional burger place, this one from the world of "The Simpsons" - Krusty Burger, seen here from The Simpsons Tapped Out game. Mmmm... cartoon fries...

French Fry Diary 482: Big Belly Burger

Some time ago I wrote about some of the fast food chains in the fictional DC Comics universe. More than a few folks inquired about what kind of, and when I would be reviewing, the fries at Big Belly Burger.

Watching "Arrow" recently I paused it, completely coincidentally, on this image of a basket of Big Belly Burger French fries. Yeah, it's like that.

The fries seem to be natural cut regular cuts, and maybe deep fried.  And yes, I'm ashamed that I can tell all that just from a fuzzy paused television image...

They seem to be a favorite of both John Diggle and Oliver Queen, so I'm going to assume these are good fries. Now if only I could get off of Earth-Prime to really give them a try...

French Fry Diary 428: Fictional Fast Food

Recently my friend Terry asked me if I was ever going to write about fictional fast food, specifically that of the DC Comics universe. I had never really thought about it, but there is a bit to be said about it.

Much like its cities, like Metropolis, Gotham City and Opal City, which are made up rather than part of the real world, there are many other facets that are fictitious as well like companies, sports teams, and yes, even fast food restaurants.

There's Big Belly Burger, which just made its prime time TV debut in the third episode of "Arrow." There is also O'Shaughnessy's, sort of a Denny's, named after DC Comics writer/editor Denny O'Neil's penname.

There's also Burgie, a major fast food chain. Burgie is a close cousin to real world counterpart McDonald's with its sideways Golden Arches forming a B. One or all of these restaurants probably served Soder Cola. Big Belly Burger appears to be similar to Bob's Big Boy, and is owned by LexCorp, for better or worse.

And nope, sadly I have no idea what kind of fries they serve...
