I will need to check with the missus, but I believe Hostess Potato Chips were sold exclusively in Canada and not in the US. So you or I would not have been aware of these in our tater tot days.
The missus lived in Toronto during the 70's, but I'm not sure she was a potato chip fan at the time.
Just don't confuse this Hostess with Hostess Brands, Inc. (formerly InterContinental Baking Co., the maker of twinkies, etc). This Hostess was not the same company. This Hostess was eventually rebranded in Canada under Frito-Lay when Hostess was bought out by PepsiCo.
